Right Intentions
They say that “the road to hell is paved with good intentions,” but that’s not what God’s Word says. The Bible says that God knows the human heart and judges us based not simply on our words and deeds but on our heart and thoughts and intentions. (Read 1st Samuel 16:7, Proverbs 21:2, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 44:21, 1st Peter 3:3-4, Psalm 139, Psalm 51, Matthew 15:18-20, Romans 8:27-28.)
If we are to be of any help to others, then our intentions must be
clear and Christlike: to care, support, strengthen, encourage, forgive, and heal.
We all have people we are sent to help, and we all need the help of others.
Moses received help and wise counsel from Jethro. He also received plenty of help from others: Jochebed, Bithiah, Aaron, Miriam, and Zipporah.
David received
help and wise counsel from the Prophet Samuel, Jonathan, and the
Prophet Nathan. Elijah received help from a poor, destitute widow.
Timothy received wisdom and encouragement from
the Apostle Paul. The Apostle Paul
received help and encouragement from many people throughout his ministry and travels, including Barnabas, John Mark, Luke, Silas,
Priscilla and Aquila.
We all have people we are sent to help, and we all need the help of others.
Who has God sent to help you?
Who are you being sent to help today?
