For such a time as this

"For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14)

You have a purpose.  Each of us have a purpose and a calling.  You weren't an accident.  Your birth, your background, your gifts, your talents, your interests, your dreams were given to you by a God who loves you and wants to use your uniqueness to bless the world, further His Kingdom, and leave behind you a legacy of love, faithfulness, and compassion.

The short quote above is from the Bible -- The Book of Esther.  Esther was a queen of Persia who encountered an opportunity to risk her own life in order to save the lives of countless others, but she was afraid.  Her uncle asked her to think about her purpose: "who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"

Life is short.  God gives us opportunities to live obediently and fulfill our purpose or live disobediently and waste life.  "Carpe diem!" should be the refrain of every Christian.  Let us seize the day for Christ.  Maybe we've wasted opportunities to do good in the past.  Maybe we haven't used our gifts.  Perhaps we thought we weren't good enough, weren't willing to risk enough, weren't willing to work hard enough, or just didn't want to be inconvenienced.  Perhaps we've been caught up in an addiction, habit, or lifestyle that has kept us on a path of disobedience.  Today is a new day and will be full of fresh opportunities to live for Christ, to make good choices, to follow His voice, to inconvenience ourselves and work hard for Him.

Why are you situated in the place where you are?  Why do you have the gifts, talents, interests, and dreams that you do?  What is God calling you to do right now?  He has a special purpose for your life.  You are a piece of the heavenly puzzle.   There is a reason that you are who you are, where you are, when you are, how you are, what you are.  God wants to use you for good.

How will you seize the opportunities in front of you?  Maybe you have come into this place "for such a time as this."
